Lhasa based Tibet Airlines has commenced flights linking the western China city of Chengdu with Kathmandu capital of Nepal.  A four weekly flight on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays has started to operate on the Chengdu - Kathmandu - Chengdu sector.

The airline uses Airbus A319 planes on this route with total 128 passenger capacity; 8 business class and 120 economy.  This is expected to greatly increase the connectivity between mainland cities in China with Nepal.  The new entrant will also facilitate travellers using Kathmandu as a hub to connect major European, South Asian destinations and United States.

Kathmandu the heritage centre of Nepal with its many historic architectural landmarks and Chengdu the home of Giant Pandas, Giant Leshan Buddha and many ancient historical sites is expected to see an interest in cultural and scenic tourism.  The flight makes it possible for travellers to enjoy highlights of both Nepal and China.
