CULTURAL TOURS
Touring Bhutan is an intimate and memorable experience to a culture that is unique and exotic. A destination that can be as large in imagination as it is small in size. The visitor is at once reminded of how different the country is after landing in the country. House are all built in the quaint traditional style and its inhabitant choose to wear their traditional colorful clothing.
Tours begin from Paro the only international airport or by land via Phuntsholing the south west town and also Samdrup Jongkhar in the south east. Itinerary can be combined to have a flight one way and land travel alternatively. Programs begin west to east and with side trips into the adjoining valleys. Internal flights within the country make itineraries more varied and interesting.
The capital city Thimphu is a veritable trove of interesting sites to visit, further east isPunakha the capital in ancient times, the beautiful Phobjika valley, Trongsa, Bumthang and Trashigang. Each has its own charm, from historical to scenic interests, from beautiful farmlands to small hamlets and community of people, lush forests with birdlife and wildlife.
Almost all large towns have Dzongs the administrative and religious centre making these very interesting places to visit. Each with its own distinctive setting and architecture.
Tours can be combined with the festivities known as “Tsechus”. These are celebration of life, thanks giving and are full of color, religious rituals and mystique. A visit at the time of the festivals is recommended. Cultural tours of varying duration are offered ranging from under a week to a fortnight.
