Beautifull Kham east Tibet 9 days tour is a journey that combines the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of this ancient land. Visits to major monasteries and scenic Kham area east of Lhasa is a tour to a picturesque region of Tibet. A journey to discover the rich natural landscape of highland culture, giant ancient Cypress treees, Basum Tso lake, stunning scenery and ancient Buddhist sites.
From the central highland tundra to lush forested region of Nyingchi and views of majestic Mount Namcha Barwa 7,600m the 28th highest mountain in the world. In addition to Lhasa, the tour also visits Tsedang former provincial capital and known as cradle of Tibetan civilization.
Day 01 : Arrive Lhasa 3650m – transfer to Tsedang 3500m
Arrive Lhasa either by air or train. If taking the Kathmandu – Lhasa flight there are spectacular views of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest 8848m. Transfer on arrival to Lhasa city on a highway along the scenic "Yarlung Tsangpo" also known as Brahmaputra river.
On arrival, hotel check-in, refresh shortly and transfer to visit Yambulagang one of the first palace to be built by king Tsongsen Gampo. This small though very important site overlooks a large scenic farming valley. After tour, return to Tsedang.

Day 02 : Tsedang tour
A big day crossing the Yarlung Tsangpo river and visit to Samye the oldest monastery where it is said religious teachers debated for years on which religion should be adopted in Tibet. Look out for the magnificent Avalokitesvara image and clay image of deities which predate Buddhism. Samye is designed to look like a "celestial Mandala" from the vantage points of the nearby hills to the east. The large terraces of Samye allows visitors to take in views of the surrounding areas lending a calm serene ambience.

Day 03 : Tsedang – Mainling
The journey heads east leaving the Yarlung fertile valley; the flat paved road starts to climbs on a graveled path to cross Podang la 5030m and winds down on the other side to flat paved road along bank of the Yarlung Tsangpo river. The scenery change from typical Tibetan desert like to more greenery and as it gets closer to Mainling.

Drive through Nang county to Gyatsa, en route visit an ancient Nyima Monastery Lama Ling, that lies only 34km south of Bayi and 6km off from the main road. Then drive following the bank of Yarlung Tsangpo River, the forest along the road gets thinner when you drive toward Gyatsa. Today the road is in a worse condition, the twisted and dusty road climb the Podang la (5030m), the paved road will meet at the foot side of the hill. The ancient capital Tsedang is beautifully situated in the fertile Yarlung valley, this valley is the so said cradle of Tibetan civilization.

Day 04 : Mainling – Nyingchi
It is a relatively short drive today to Nyingchi, starting with a visit to Lama Ling a Nyingmapa monastery built in the 7th century, set in midst of Norburi hills with its peacefull ambience, luxuriant forest and well tended garden this is a good start to the day. Visit Kading valley with its picturesque meadows and villages.

Day 05 : Nyingchi tour
After breakfast, drive to Lulang forest to enjoy some of the most scenic views of alpine forests, meadows, villages and snow peaks. Visit Cypresses Park, with over 2500-year old trees adjacent to the town, according to the Bon believers it is the spiritual tree of their Buddha-Dunpa Sherab. Continue to Serkhym-la over 4500m and in good weather there are gorgeous views of Mount Namche Barwa 7,756m and her sister peak Gyala Pelri. Return to Nyingchi.

Day 06 : Nyingchi - Lhasa
Today is an exceptional day heading north west to Lhasa, enroute visit the Basum Tso Lake. The lake and its surrounding views are beautiful and the site is also connected to the semi-mythical ruler of the Kham region and Guru Rinpoche The drive along the Niyang river is beautifull and from the narrow valley cross the Mila pass 5100m to enter a broad valley and to the more familiar central highland landscapes of Tibet. As it approaches Lhasa city, the landmark Potala palace dominates the skyline. Check-in to hotel, if upto it, a short walk to Barkhor square will be organized. Or rest and take it easy.

Day 07 : Lhasa tour
Exciting day with visit to Potala the imposing 13th storied winter Palace of the Dalai Lamas dominating the skyline of the city, Norbulingka Summer Palace, the 7th century Jokhang Temple and explore the bustling Barkhor market full of vendors and pilgrims. Night in Lhasa.
Day 08 : Lhasa tour
Another day of fine touring to Drepung Monastery, the largest Gelugpa sect monastery. It has plenty of historical relics, Buddhist scriptures, arts & crafts. Transfer to Sera monastery on a slope north of the city. It is one of the three great monasteries of Lhasa city. Later walk through the older parts of Lhasa and visit Ani Sakung a nunnery always vibrant with activities.

Day 09 : Lhasa departure
It is time to bid goodbye to this enchanting destination, transfer to Gongar Lhasa airport for departure.
