This is a very interesting extension of the Chomolhari trek to higher northern area of Lingshi Dzong. This trail goes to the remote and charming village of Laya at 3900 metre. Its peculiar stone houses shrouded by the Masagang mountain range.
There are superb views of Mount Chomolhari and Gangchenta. Three high passes are crossed with Shinchela at 4900 metre being the most challenging. The ladies of Laya wear long hair and straight under conical pointed bamboo hats that give them a unique appearance. The trek ends at Punakha with a welcome break at the Gasa hot springs.
