Sichuan Airlines to increase Nepal flights

Sichuan Airlines a major inbound carrier from Chengdu China to Kathmandu announced that it will operate daily flights from August.  Earlier the airline resumed with 4 weekly flights from 20th March 2023 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. This move has increased inbound tourism from China and has been widely welcomed by the travel industry.

It has also announced a one-way fare for Melbourne and Narita.  Sichuan Airlines has announced a special introductory one-way fare of approx U$610 to Melbourne and approx U$ 540 to Narita from Kathmandu with 46 kgs check-in baggage and 7 kgs cabin luggage.

Travel trade and ticketing consolidators have reported most of the Chinese planes connecting Nepal are full.

Also Guangzhou-based China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in China in terms of passenger volume, which resumed flights on the Kathmandu-Guangzhou sector in November last year after a break of nearly a year and a half, is more than 80 percent sold out for March.  The carrier operates two flights a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Air China, which resumed the Chengdu-Kathmandu flights in September last year, and operates two weekly flights, is 90 percent sold out.
