SriLankan Airlines has daily direct flights to Nepal’s capital Kathmandu since 31st August 2021, connecting the island nation to the Himalayas.

The carrier now operates weekly flights using 158-seater Airbus A320 aircraft. The flight will connect Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu  and Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo with a flight duration of almost 4hrs.

According to Nepal’s civil aviation regulator, passengers will require a negative PCR test report for Covid-19 which should be conducted 72 hours prior to arrival.

Current introductory fare, as per the filing by the airline, begins from $599 one-way.

Besides the migrant worker market; the flight is expected to attract Buddhist pilgrimage between the two countries once the pandemic situation improves. Before Covid-19, Nepal hosted 1.2 million international tourists and visitors from Sri Lanka numbered 55,869.

Government statistics show that 97.5 percent of the Sri Lankan visitors entered Nepal overland from Bhairahawa to visit birthplace of Lord Buddha in Lumbini.

Book this flight to Sri Lanka a jewel in the Indian Ocean after your visit to Nepal.
