Rafting in Nepal

River Rafting in Nepal has been long considered among the world’s most exciting and diverse rafting experiences. From easy to challenging, all grades are available to suit the preferences of this water sport.  The trips combine “white water” thrills with serene stretches of sandy banks camping close to local fishing communities from Grade 1 upto Grade 4 rating.  Rafting equipment includes oars or paddle type boats. Raft crew are well versed in safety and rescue skills navigating in some of the most challenging terrain.

 

TRISHULI RIVER - 1 to 3 days

From KTM to KTM

This ideal river for a day trip runs west of Kathmandu. These can be designed to operate 1 to 3 days in this river. It belongs to II-III class river, which has fun rapids and memorable swimming.  Can be combined with a wildlife visit to the Chitwan Park.

           

 SETI RIVER - 2 days

From KTM to KTM

A unique river passing through the two verdant green hills usually explored by beginner and intermediate kayak learners and rafters. It has impressive gorges exciting II - III class rapids on its small volume white water.

  

 BHOTE KOSHI RIVER - 2 days

From KTM to KTM

Bhote Kosi is the main branch of the Sun Koshi, a beautiful mountain river only a few hours from Kathmandu. Overnight trip of exciting rafting when water levels allow and kayaking day trips from class IV to V. A difficult but thrilling raft trip. 

 

 MARSHYANGDI RIVER - 3 to 4 days

From KTM to KTM or Pokhara to Pokhara

"The Raging River", drains the northern slope of the Annapurna Mountains. Recently opened to rafting, the Marshyangdi yields some of the most exciting class IV-V white water in Nepal. This trip demands 100% commitment from both crew and guide, and is not for the faint hearted! 

 

 SUN KOSHI RIVER -  8 days 

From KTM to KTM

"River of Gold" is one of the top ten river expeditions in the world. A destination river for almost anyone coming to experience Nepal's white water for the first time. Mid-September to early November is the best river run. High water levels brought on by monsoon rains provide warm water and sun filled days, making it a favorite.  Unexplored beaches among remote communities add to the experience. 

 

KARNALI RIVER EXPEDITION - 9 days

From KTM to KTM

The mighty Karnali river expedition is not for the faint hearted!  Located in the "wild west", unspoilt and offers the best of white water experience in the country. It starts with a journey either by flight or drive from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and transfer to Dhungeswor the "put in point".  Rafting through wild cayons and deep valleys, often catching glimpses of local inhabitants who live off the river. The trip ends at Chisapani edge of Bardia National Park famous for its tigers, wild elephants, black bucks and rhinos among others. Keep a look out for the rare endangered freshwater Gangetic dolphins on this stretch.  Rafters get a choice to either return to Kathmandu or spend a few nights unwinding in this remarkable National Park with elephant game viewing, jungle jeep drives and bird watching. 

 

BOOK a Join-in River Trip Nepal : Whenever possible it is more fun to join with a fixed departure group for the river trips.  However there have been many individual raft trips outfitted privately.
