Black Mountain also known as Gangtey trek is a short and equally interesting trek. The trail goes through the highest mid hills of the country. It begins from the picturesque Phobjika valley dominated by the gilded roofs of the Gangtey monastery. The route goes over Tsele La 3440 metre to Gogona village, then through dense pine, juniper, cypress forests before the Shobju La 3410 metre and on to Khothangkha village. It ends close to Wangdi Phodrang.
With views of expansive valleys, lush forests, yak and pony trails, this is a taste of what Bhutan himalayas have to offer. Until recently the Gogona was rated one of the top cheese among its peers in South Asia! You maybe lucky enough to get some when you are there.
