KANGSHUNG TREK EAST FACE OF EVEREST
The trek goes into the remote Kharta valley and the east Everest Base Camp – it is one of the most remote and challenging trekking destinations in central Tibet.
The round trip walk to the base camp begins at Yuba. The Valley is absolutely alive with roars of the summer monsoon. The snow that accumulate daily on the peaks start rumbling about noon and continues till late. The trail traverses up through pine tree forests unlike other treks in Tibet. From here are magnificient views of Everest, Lhotse and Makalu. The trail then retraces to Yuba village via the Langma La pass at 5330 metre and the Kharta river.
Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Lhasa airport, transfer to Tsedang, hotel.
Day 2 Visit the Yambulagang castle, continue across the Yarlung Tsangpo river to visit Samye monastery, drive to Lhasa, hotel.
Day 3 / 4 Tour to Potala Palace, Barkhor Bazaar, Jokhang temple, Drepung and Sera monastery.
Day 5 Drive to Gyantse via south route along Lake Yamdrok, hotel.
Day 6 Tour Kumbum and Pelkor Chode monastery, drive to Xigatse, tour the sprawling complex of monasteries in the Tashilunpo, hotel.
Day 7 Drive to Yulba, starting camping throughout.
Day 8 / 17 Trek to the Everest Base Camp and Kangshung glacier.
Day 18 Drive to Zhangmu, hotel.
Day 19 Exit to Nepal.
