The popular travel portal 'Tripadvisor' has declared Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital city, as the best natural destination 2024 in the world. Tripadvisor announced 'Tripadvisor’s Traveler's Choice Awards-2024' in seven categories and ranked Kathmandu Uno #1 among the top 10 natural destinations in the planet. It announced the best of the best destinations in 2024 in seven categories. Out of which 10 are best destinations, natural destinations, trending destinations, cultural destinations, food destinations, honeymoon destinations and sustainable destinations.
It has also ranked Kathmandu at number # 24 among the best 25 destinations in the world. Tripadvisor is the world's largest travel aggregator of destinations guiding millions of potential travelers from its list of where to go, what to see, do, stay and eat!
Kathmandu is unique in being the only world capital city that has a National Park adjoining it; the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park just 12kms north of the city with its luxuriant forest cover cover is a great bio diverse area to hike, walk and explore. Designated Shivapuri National Park in 2002 with an area of 144 sq kms, it was enlarged with adjoining Nagarjun area and renamed in 2009. It is home to approx 177 species of birds and also include mammals such as leopard, Himalayan Black bear and jungle cat to name a few.
