SAFGR - South Asian Fellowship of Golfing Rotarians

Nepal : 01 – 02 June 2018.

For the first time since inception SAFGR is organising a Golfing Fellowship to Nepal for its members to meet Rotarians of District 3292 Bhutan & Nepal and to have the unique opportunity to Golf in the sublime surroundings of Gokarna Golf Course and see the country's Himalayan heritage and history; tour Kathmandu valley's UNESCO Heritage protected sites, palaces of Malla and Gorkha kings, the mysterious Kumari - Living Goddess and sacred Pashupatinath temple.  Gokarna Golf Club is set in the lush green forests which was once an exclusive and protected site now open to the discerning golfer looking for ‘that’ special challenge.

The Gokarna Golf Course is special in that it is designed by none other than famed David Kidd of Gleneagles Golf Developments who was inspired by the myth, magic and mystery of Kathmandu valley, pitted his skills against those of nature, creating a golf masterpiece. Spread over 140 acres at 4,550 ft above sea level, the 6,755 yard par 72 course boasts the only bentgrass greens on an 18 hole course in South and South East Asia.

Professionals from across the world have visited Gokarna Forest Resort to experience the special spirit of the environment and uniqueness of the golf course. The serenity and settings are overwhelming with the only distraction probably being the sighting of a spotted deer, a barking deer or monkeys who wander freely in this their pristine habitat.

Soft cushions of local Bermuda fairways, verdant forests, winding streams, gentle undulating hills and valleys open to a holy river's inflow. Curious monkey's watch your progress. Shy spotted deer peer through the trees. The lofty Himalayas witness your score. A delight for recreational golfers and one of the pleasurable highlights of the professional tour in the region.  Gokarna Golf Course is a busy venue on any given weekends especially on Saturdays there is always a tournament going on.
