The Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is the most popular trek of the Nepal Himalayas. It begins from Pokhara gateway to the Annapurna foothills. The trail traverses from lower Modi river valley upto the astounding viewpoint of Poonhill 3300m. Combines good trek with nature, rhododendron and oak forests, village communities, classic landscapes and amazing mountain views. It is highly recommended for the first time trekker.
SYNOPSIS : arrive in Kathmandu capital city of Nepal and enjoy tourings its surrounding valleys a mixture of the old and the new. We will visit historic UNESCO Heritage protected sites with myriad of temples, monasteries, ancient palace squares, also enjoy views of the majestic Himalayan snow peaks by travelling to the beautifull lakeside city of Pokhara west of Kathmandu. And do a short trek visiting the foothills of the Annapurna Himalayas.

Day 01 ARRIVE BY FLIGHT KATHMANDU 1300m
Arrival transfer to hotel.
PM Tour Kathmandu Durbar Square, Kumari Living Goddess and Swayambhunath stupa. Historic Durbar Square was the seats of Gurkha Kings a UNESCO protected World Heritage site; Overnight Hotel.
Day 02 : KATHMANDU – POKHARA DRIVE 6HRS / OR FLY 20 MINUTE
Transfer by car to Pokhara, following the course of Trishuli and Marshyangdi rivers passing through mid hills of the country with terraced farmlands and small villages. This lakeside town with its best good views of the surrounding Himalayas and relaxing atmosphere.
In clear weather beautifull views can be seen of 8000m high Annapurna I, Fishtail Peak, Dhaulagiri and Lamjung Himalayas. Phewa lakeside is a nice place to walk along the shore of the lake.
PM Sightseeing to Davis Fall, Seti Gorge and Gaden Dhargay Ling monastery. View a natural waterfall that drains the Phewa lake and the Buddhist Monastery.

Day 03 : START TREK TO BANTHANTI Altitude 2250m approx 3.30 hours
Transfer jeep to Nayapul – Birethanti - Tirkhedhunga - trek to Banthanti walk uphill along stone steps and farming villages. In clear weather you will catch a glimpse of Annapurna South looming ahead to the north.

Day 04 : TREK TO GHOREPANI Altitude 2800m, approx 4.30hours walk
Today we walk through forests of rhododendron and local species of hard wood along mountain trails going uphill, small streams and beautifull surroundings. Often one will come across pony caravans carrying provisions to the mountain lodges and communities. Arrive at
Ghorepani a large Gurung village with vista views of the Annapurnas, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung and famous Fish Tail Peak.

Day 05 : TREK TO TADAPANI Altitude 2570m, approx 5-6 hours walk
This morning is the highlight of the trek as we go upto Poonhill the view point for a superb sunrise over the Himalayas. A walk of aprox 1hr to the top and return to Tea House Lodge for breakfast before setting off to Tadapani. The walk today is easier along the ridge through rhododendron forests until the night halt. There are also nice views from this spot.

Day 06 : LAST DAY TREK TO GHANDRUK Altitude 1990m, approx 3.30hr – 4.30 hours walk – drive to POKHARA
Today’s walk is mainly downhill to the largest Gurung village Ghandrung a major point from where the famous British Gurkha soldiers are recruited. Drive to Pokhara by local jeep approx 2.30hrs. Rest of afternoon at leisure. Overnight in lakeside resort.

Day 07: POKHARA – KATHMANDU
Either drive back to Kathmandu or transfer to airport for Pokhara – Kathmandu flight
On arrival transfer to hotel, rest of afternoon at leisure or if you are taking the flight one can do optional touring.
