Trekking in the Bhutan Himalayas is a sublime experience; the destination having well-regulated and low-impact policies in place. The pristine trek routes are a delight for any visitor. Trekkers enjoy hiking into areas where rural life is unchanged and simple. They will also have astounding views of the lofty snow mountains of the Himalayas towering down on them.
Treks are either cultural -- Samtengang, Black Mountain -- or moderate to challenging -- Druk Path, Merak Sakteng, Chomolhari Base Camp, Laya Lingshi; or the ultimate challenging Lunana Snowman. Short treks can be combined with a good tour of cultural interest. With a sparse mountain population all porterage is by either hardy ponies or yaks.
High altitude treks get hikers to alpine meadows, glacial lakes, strenuous mountain passes and superb mountain views along the northern borders with Tibet, China. Asian-Bhrikuti has a comprehensive list of all the trek routes which have been researched, allowing for rest days to allow trekkers to maximise contact with the unique inhabitants of the areas.
There is support from excellent cultural and trekking guides who are both knowledgeable and friendly. All our guides are trained and have undertaken rigorous training courses in the country, ensuring a very enjoyable and smooth visit.
Besides this, camping and dining equipment, and transportation are of the highest quality and reflect the latest improvements being used by the industry. All are ECO-TREKS organised with a great deal of effort to ensure that it is environmentally friendly. With the fast depletion of wood fuel all our treks use gas or kerosene as cooking fuel and all non-biodegradable wastes are carried out. All staff have accident insurance as required by tourism provision.
