A unique Join-in Departure to see 2 of Bhutan's Tsechu festivities - Wangdue and Thimphu Tsechu 2024 gives individual visitors opportunity to see both Wangdue and Thimphu Tsechu festivals. Tsechus are among the oldest of the Bhutan festivals marked by traditional rituals, masked dances and unfolding of the Sacred "Throngdrul" a giant painting depicting the life of Lord Buddha.
In the calendar of festivals; there are only 2 Tsechus that occur at one time - Wangdue and Thimphu Tsechu. Wangdue though smaller is in a valley away from urban center drawing more rural pilgrims which lends a touch of authenticity and local flavours. At Wangdue Tsechu one can witness a largely rural populace enjoy a unique celebration of this festival celebrating the blessings of a good harvest. A second highlights of the trip is a visit to Thimphu Tsechu with its distinctive rituals on a larger scale with all the grandeur of an urban setting.

10 Sep Day 1 Arrive Paro, Bhutan
Arrive Paro, tour Kyichu Lhagang and Paro town, stay at hotel or resort.
11 Sep Day 2 Paro – Punakha, Wangdi Tsechu festival
Drive to Punakha, visit first day of the Wangdi Tsechu festival to enjoy the sacred ritual prayers and masked dances depicting various stages of the religious rites. Stay at hotel or resort.
12 Sep Day 3 Wangdi Tsechu festival
Visit the Wangdi Tsechu Festivities, tour Punakha Dzong venue of the Royal Wedding of Their Majesties and winter retreat of Jhey Khempo Chief Abbot of the country. Stay at hotel or resort.
13 Sep Day 4 Punakha – Thimphu, Tsechu festival
Take a walk to visit a typical village home here, farmers grow the most delicious potatoes and buckwheat in this part of the country. Enjoy a “one on one” Q & A with a farmer and the household. And visit Chhimi Lhagang home of sage Drukpa Kinley a tantric worshipped for his fertility prowess.
Drive to Thimphu the bustling capital city and visit Thimphu Tsechu festivities in the court yard of the imposing Tashi Chhodzong seat of the Royal Government and enjoy the celebrations in a different setting. Later step in to the Handicraft Emporium with its many Bhutan made souvenirs. Stay at hotel or resort.
14 Sep Day 5 Thimphu Tsechu festival
Today visit the last day of Thimphu Tsechu festivities. We will also visit the giant Dordema Buddha statue and Takin Enclosure to see the national animal, Simply Bhutan to get a glimpse of the country's past and rural homes. Stay at hotel or resort.
15 Sep Day 6 Thimphu – Paro
Visit Zorig School of Handicraft and traditional Paper Workshop. Transfer to Paro, enroute stop by to see the first Iron Bridge of the country and Paro Dzong. Later take a pleasant walk through this interesting town with its many shops and eating places. Stay at hotel or resort.
15 Sep Day 7 Paro tour
Today is an exciting day as the tour will take an excursion hike to view the "Taktsang" Tiger's Nest monastery where legend has it that Guru Rimpoche flew there on a tigress and meditated in a cave where the monastery is built. Visit Drukgyel Dzong "Victorious Fort" and Ta Dzong Museum holding very unique artefacts of Bhutan's history. In the afternoon relax with an option to soak in a typical Bhutanese “stone bath”. Farewell dinner in the evening. Stay at hotel or resort.
17 Sep Day 8 Paro departure
Transfer to airport for onward departure.
Bhutan's Paro International Airport is connected by Druk Air and Bhutan Air flights from Bagdogra, Bangkok, Delhi, Dhaka, Guwahati, Kathmandu, Kolkata and Singapore.
Hotels : Standard Tourist Accommodation are in the 3* and 3* plus categories with upgrades on payment of supplementary cost in locations where available.
